Preparing for Your Audition

Please learn Charles Villiers Standford's Justorum Animea. Here is link to a recording, and the score is provided here. 

How do I prepare? - Be emboldened and come to express and impress! Work alone or with others, whatever is best for your process.

Select a part that is best for your voice.

Learn the notes and rhythms on a vowel that works best in your voice from the first measure of pg. 5 through the fourth bar at the top of pg. 7. (measures 21-46)

Learn to speak the Latin pronunciation.

Practice singing the assigned section until you have developed your best sound and musicality. 

You do not need to memorize this section.

What will happen in the audition? - I will greet you with enthusiastic support!

You will be provided your opening pitch and a chord for context.

You can set your own tempo

You will sing the requested portion of the musical work as an unaccompanied solo. 

You will be asked to listen to a few pitches and sing them back to the best of your ability. 

You will be given a short musical excerpt to sing at sight

 

On the Day of Your Audition

  1. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your audition.
  2. Choir auditions will be held in PLF 129N (The Director of Choral Activities Studio) 
    • link to a map is provided here if needed. 
    • The full name of the building on the map is Patricia L Frost Music Studios North.
  3. Your audition will last no longer than 10 min.
  4. Details about ensembles and call-backs will be provided after the final audition day. 

Audition Date/Times

DAY 1 - Wednesday, April 30th from 12:00pm - 5:00pm 

DAY 2 - Monday, May 5th from 12:00pm - 5:00pm 

Day 3 - Tuesday, May 6th from 12:00pm - 5:00pm
